An Interview with Kethry Kane

Please join me in welcoming new author, Kethry Kane as she shares with us a little about her writing, what influences her creativity, and some personal information about her family.

Be sure to check out her excerpt for Second Time Around after the interview.

1) Links to website and list of books with purchase links.
http://www.bookstrand.com/kethry-kane - Second Time Around
also available now on Amazon and Barnes and Noble

2) How long have you been writing? What got you in to writing?
I've been writing since I was 16 years old. I have always been fascinated with creating stories and once I picked up my first romance novel, I was hooked!

3) What was your first published book? Looking back, is there anything you’d change about it?
I'm very new and have only had one book published. My first serious attempt at putting something out there. It was a daunting task to say the least and I'm still petrified of being smacked down. I wouldn't change a thing other than relax a little more. Heck, I'm still not relaxed! Now I'm just stressing to get the second one done!

4) What or Who has influenced your writing?
I have my favorite authors who are a great inspiration to me, Catherine Anderson, Anya Bast, Nora Roberts and then my husband who has pushed me to do something about my dream of being an author.

5) Where do you get your ideas?
Random thoughts. I'm a big day dreamer.

6) What hinders your writing? (distractions? noise?)
I have 5 children, so there is a lot of noise and things to do. I wish I could lock myself away, but they always come first.

7) What genre are you most comfortable with? What would you like to explore?
Contemporary erotic romance. I'm pretty happy there. But one day I may try my hand at some fantasy based stories.

8) Are you a by-the-seat-of-your-pants kind of writer, or do you have to use an outline to put your collective thoughts into some semblance of common sense?
Very much a by-the-seat-of-my-pants kind of writer! I'll obsess over a story in my head until I just have to put it down on paper. But I am not a very organized writer.

9) Which of your books is your favorite? Why?
Only have the one so far, so this one! :)

10) Do you incorporate some of yourself into your characters? Personality traits? Likes? Dislikes?
All my characters will have a little of me in them. Sometimes it's in their character, mannerisms, etc. and sometimes it's just a physical attribute.

11) What do you think is the perfect hero/heroine? Why?
I like my heroes to be a little on the dominant side, but not in an obnoxious way. Strong, stubborn, smart, with a sense of humor and patience wrapped in a pretty package. What woman doesn't want someone to sweep her off her feet, right? But I also like a bit of a challenge.

12) What is your latest release? Please share the blurb and purchase info with us.
Second Time Around is my current release. You may purchase it at Siren Bookstrand, Amazon, and Barnes and Noble.

Blurb:
Melanie's life was picture-perfect and planned, with all her ducks were in a row and safely nestled behind a white picket fence until tragedy struck, leaving her a grief-stricken young widow struggling to come to terms with her dead husband's final wish.

Danny works hard and plays harder. Chasing the new flavor of the month is a pastime he can't seem to resist. However, when his best friend passes away, he is forced to step up and deal with his friend's grieving widow, who also happens to be his old flame.

In an unlikely and surprising twist, Melanie and Danny find themselves thrust together and forced to deal with a long-kept secret and grief they both share. Through the pain, fire flickers between them, fueled by long-suppressed desires, but is this enough to heal old hurts and bring back love?

13) What do you have in the works?
I have several unfinished works I'm tinkering with. I haven't figured out yet what I want to go with and it's driving me a little nutty. But hoping for a bit more of a romantic comedy.

14) Do you have any suggestions/comments for prospective authors?
I would say never give up on your dream. It's not easy putting yourself out there and sometimes rejection will sting. Learn from your mistakes and always find ways to improve your craft. But I think the key is if you don't try, you won't get anywhere. Keep at it if it's what you want.

JUST FOR FUN:

1) If you could be an animal, what would it be? Why?
A cat because they can get away with almost anything and people don't expect them to follow rules.

2) If you had super powers, what would they be? Why?
Mind reader because I'm always curious to know what people are really thinking.

3) What would be a perfect date for you?
I'm a simple girl with simple tastes. A nice romantic dinner with my husband. To be able to actually talk without little ones interrupting every 10 seconds. Maybe a movie or a walk somewhere. I like quiet time.

4) Is there anywhere you’d like to visit? Why?
I'd love to go back to Wales, where I was born, but also visit surrounding areas, like Ireland and Scotland. I just love Europe.

5) Do you have any obsessions? What are they?
Writing and Facebook

Getting personal with Kethry Kane…
I am your every day mom of 5 wonderful children. Most of the time you'll find me cleaning the house, cooking, running errands. Doing random everyday stuff. I do enjoy watching movies on weekends once in a great while, but I have to admit, I am completely addicted to my little purple netbook. Writing is just my passion. I just wish I had more time and energy in a day to do it all!

“I may not be a teen anymore, but trust me, I’m ready for round two.”

“And yet your pants are on,” she countered, giggling as a dark brow rose in mock surprise and he chuckled.

“It does seem a little unfair.” Leaning down, he captured her lips in a sweet kiss that left her breathless and needy. Their lips parted in unison, his tongue sliding sensually across her own in a slow, deep thrust.

She forgot all about his pants and anything else he was wearing as they sank deeper into the kiss, enjoying the flavor of each other’s mouths while she mussed his hair and he trailed his hands over her thighs to her bare hips and moaned. The way she shifted beneath him, squirming to get closer, sighing as his fingers brushed over her smooth skin, was making him crazy again.

Grasping the edge of her shirt, he edged it up and broke away to kiss her chin, drifting up to her cheek and then dipping down her neck. She turned her face and offered him her neck, her breath hitching as he hit the sensitive hollow of her collarbone.

Mel sighed his name and wiggled as he pushed her shirt up and up, working to help him under his weight until they wrangled the cotton up and over her head. She brought both her arms up, her limbs tangled in the shirt where he teasingly pinned them. “Keep them there.” His silky-soft whisper against her ear made her shiver, and she stilled, watching with apt interest as he nibbled his way along the line of her bra. Her nipples poked against the soft material, begging for attention. He brushed his chin against each peak gently and gazed up at her with smoldering eyes. He stole her breath and her heart all over again. Mel lost herself in his gaze, followed it as he moved back up and kissed her again.

Somewhere between untangling her arms and wrapping them around his neck, Mel realized that he had cleverly gotten rid of important bits of clothing and was pressing himself between her legs. She sighed and lifted her knees, wrapping her legs around his hips and welcoming him into her slick, tight pussy again. Danny thrust and she met him eagerly, moving her hips under him.

Again, she felt like heaven, so achingly perfect that he had to muster up the control to keep it slow. Unlike moments ago, he wanted to savor the moment and her. Pressing into the mattress, Danny pushed his hands under and trailed them up her back to cradle her, leaning down to touch her lips ever so softly.

Tears pricked her eyes, and a flood of warmth and love threatened to overwhelm her. She tugged at his shirt and managed to pull it free so she could run her hands over his bare chest and arms. As desperate as she felt to get closer, Mel slid her legs down and let him set the pace. “You have no idea how often I’ve wished for this. Wished I could undo the past,” he murmured thickly.

She cupped his cheeks and smoothed her thumbs over his lips, gasping as he rocked against her. “Shh, don’t,” she whispered. Tears stung her eyes and she blinked them away, bringing his face down for another kiss. For the first time since all this had begun, Mel suddenly realized that she wasn’t the only one struggling with guilt and fear. Danny had just done a better job of hiding it all. Even though neither of them had exactly done wrong, the fact that both of them had held on to a lie for so long had been torture.

She shared his breath and caressed her fingertips down the sides of his face, neck, and over his shoulders, which brought forth a soft growl as he rocked his hips a little harder against hers. He reacted to her soft gasp by caressing her outer thighs as he squeezed her bottom in his large hands. Soft whimpers and sighs fueled him on as she mapped the play of muscles under his skin and eagerly reciprocated affection.

Pressing close, Danny held on tight, burying his face against her neck, and continued to slowly grind against her, making sure to angle his hips just so, applying pressure against her clit. She dug her heels into the bed and moved under him, panting sweetly in his ear as she strained to ease the growing throb of need that he had ignited. Her fingernails dug into the skin of his back as she bumped her hips up and whimpered out his name.

The sound of it sent a bolt of white-hot pleasure through his veins. His teeth grazed her skin, drawing on it with his mouth. “Oh yes!” She gasped. “Oh ungh, yes!”

An Interview with Janice Seagraves

Please join me in welcoming Janice Seagraves as she shares with us a little about her writing, her latest release, and a little bit of her humor.

About the Author…
I still reside in the same small California town, where I was born and grew up.

I live in a hundred year old haunted house (not kidding) with my husband of 30 years with our just grown daughter.

We are owned by one cat and two birds. Of the later, one is a handicapped dove and the other a pigeon that is in love with my husband (also not kidding).

I write romance of various genres. My first book, which is a contemporary romance, called Windswept shores, came out in June 2010.
Interview…

1) Links to website and list of books with purchase links.

2) How long have you been writing? What got you in to writing?
Since I was twenty and I have to keep writing because the voices in head won't leave me alone.

3) What was your first published book? Looking back, is there anything you’d change about it?

4) What or Who has influenced your writing?
5) Where do you get your ideas?
Mostly from dreams. Sometimes it just a flash and I have to figure out who these people are and how they got to this particular spot that I dreamed about.

6) What hinders your writing? (distractions? noise?)
I like it quiet when I write. I live out in the country so that gives me lots of quiet. However, when my husband is home, he is kind of deaf and listens to the TV with the volume turned up. But he does to be early, and then I finally have my quiet time to work.

7) What genre are you most comfortable with? What would you like to explore?
To tell you the truth, I'm not sure yet. For a while there every time I started a new MS, I'd write in a different genre. I like romance so I've been working in several sub-genres of romance. Currently I'm working on a Science Fiction Romance series which has been fun.

8) Are you a by-the-seat-of-your-pants kind of writer, or do you have to use an outline to put your collective thoughts into some semblance of common sense?
Oh, I am a panster through and through. I only had a vague idea where I'm going when I start writing, but that's what makes it fun.

9) Which of your books is your favorite? Why?
Right now its Windswept Shores, which is my first publish book.

10) Do you incorporate some of yourself into your characters? Personality traits? Likes? Dislikes?
Yes, there is a little bit of me in all my characters. I created them so why not?

11) What do you think is the perfect hero/heroine? Why?
I like cocky heroes and spunky heroines. The cockiness of the heroes hides some hidden pain, which I in due time reveal. The spunky heroine has some hidden pain too, but she’s not the type of heroine that stands around wringing her hands. Nope, she’ll hop into with the hero to help save the day.

12) What is your latest release? Please share the blurb and purchase info with us.

Blurb:
The sole survivor of a plane crash, Megan is alone on a deserted island in the Bahamas until she finds a nearly-drowned man washed up on shore. Another survivor, this time from a boat wreck. With only meager survival skills between them, will they survive and can they find love?
13) What do you have in the works?
A Science Fiction Romance series that I'm really excited about. Aliens from outer space that have lost their females and need to find mates on Earth in order to continue their species.

14) Do you have any suggestions/comments for prospective authors?
Yes, don’t give up. Also keep taking workshops so you continue to learn the craft of writing.

JUST FOR FUN:

1) What is the sexiest or most erotic thing someone has said to you?
I know its sounds silly, but I love it when my husband tells me I'm beautiful. It makes me feel, well, pretty and sexy.

2) If you could be an animal, what would it be? Why?
I used to want to be a horse, but now I think I'd like to be a bird so I can fly.

3) If you had super powers, what would they be? Why?
The power to heal. So I can heal my mother who has Torticollis.

4) If you could be an immortal, what would you want to be? Why?
A sex Goddess and why not. It would be awfully dull to be anything else, don't you think?

5) If you could change three things in the world, what would they be? Why?
Take away all the guns and wars, and then end world hunger. Mostly because I hate seeing children hurt.

6) What would be a perfect date for you?
A fresh sushi dinner and a long walk on the beach at sunset. I'm terribly romantic that way. :)

7) Is there anywhere you’d like to visit? Why?
I need to go to Lancaster and Santa Monica (CA) to do some research for a manuscript I wrote a while back.

8) Do you have any obsessions? What are they?
Writing is my number one obsession right now. I sleep it, day dream it and do it.

9) Do you have a crush on any actor/actress? Who?
I used to just love Pierce Brosnan, but not so much now.

10) Do you have a favorite hobby?
I like to take photos and I garden a bit. I also make knit hats with that ring you can buy at Wal-mart.

11) A bad habit?
I don't chew my nails or smoke and I only drink a couples times a year. I suppose I do have a bad habit but I can't think of one right now.

12) Terrible joke?
Fish have very bad memories or we wouldn't be able to keep catching them with the same old hook and line.  I can just imagine a bunch of fish swimming in a school and a hook with a worm comes down into the water. "Hey, look a worm." One of the fish goes for it and it gets pulled up. "Bob, we lost Bob. What will we ever do without Bob?" *Sob, Sob* Then another hook and worm comes down. "Hey, look a worm."

Excerpt: PG
Seth’s bare toes dug into the warm sand while he stood staring down at the beautiful woman to whom he’d confessed his love. Being near Megz was a heady experience. Kissing her reminded him of surfing that perfect curl, always struggling to keep his balance, leaning to and fro to avoid a wipe out. Each time, his head buzzed while his pants felt five sizes too tight—and he wanted more.

The roar of the waves filled the beach with its song as he waited for her answer, but the look on her face was anything but welcoming.

Did I just wipe out?

“You don’t have to do that,” Megan said, shaking her head.

“Do what?” he asked, confused. I don’t reckon I had that reaction before, usually the bird is happy.

“Tell me you love me because you want to have sex with me,” she snapped.

“It’s not just that.” He frowned. “Orright, I’d like to get a leg over, but ya keep knocking me back. But—”

“But—I’m the only woman on this island, who else are you going to screw?” Her mouth twisted downward.

“But . . . you’re a bloody amazing woman.” He smiled at her. He meant every word, but wasn’t sure how else to tell her.

“Also . . . I’m older than you. Ten years is a lot.”

“Twelve years,” he corrected, but wished he hadn’t.

She glared up at him. “What?”

“Megz, luv, give a bloke a fair go,” he chided her. “You’re more together than anyone I know. Sheila or bloke.”

“Yeah?” she challenged, but then pressed her lips together into a thin unhappy line. “You still would have noticed...noticed me...even if there were a lot of hot babes running around?”

He smiled, amused at her verbal sparring. “Too right, I would.”

“Even if they were in . . .” she lifted an eyebrow, “skimpy bikinis?”

She wants me to prove it? “Even in a mob of thong-wearing beach babes you would stand out.”

“Or would I stand out because I’d be the oldest one there? Remember I’m forty-two?”

“I remembered.” He grinned. “I remember how spunky ya are, also how you took on a bush pig, not once, but twice. Most hot babes would be worthless. They would have run or fainted.”

“Fainting is not an option, but I did scream both times.” She shuddered. “Now I have that nightmare of you getting charged by the wild boar disturbing my rest.”

His eyebrows went up, hope filled his heart. “Not the one about yer bloke?” He held his breath, waiting for her answer.

“No,” she said softly. “I’m not dreaming about him anymore.”

A slow grin spread across his face. “Megz, do I mean something to ya?”

“Yeah, you can say that.”

“Do ya luv me?”

“Dammit, Seth, I tried so hard not to.” She frowned out to sea with her arms crossed under her breasts.

“But ya do, don’t ya, Megz?” he asked with a crooked smile.

Blurb:

Elena is happy in her relationship with her live-in boyfriend Corin. But when she runs into her former lover Niko at a party, she realizes she still has feelings for him. Her attempt to form a friendship with Niko goes off-course when the two of them kiss.

When she confesses to Corin, he encourages her to not only remain friends with Niko, but to pursue a relationship with the other man. At first Niko has no objections, but the two men soon become rivals, and Elena isn't sure she can handle being shared.

Excerpt:

When she opened her eyes, she jumped. Niko’s blue eyes were inches from her face, staring intently at her. “I wondered when you’d wake up,” he whispered.

“How long have you been awake?” She shifted onto her elbow and craned her neck to see the clock on her bureau. “It’s eight o’clock?”

“Yeah.” He ran his fingers down her arm, making her shiver. “Merry Christmas.”

“Merry Christmas.” She kissed his lips. “Did you sleep okay?”

“Mostly. I’ve been awake a little while, waiting for you.” He yawned. “I’ll probably take a nap when I go home. I’m not used to sharing a bed with someone, let alone two someones.”

Elena looked over her shoulder at Corin, who lay curled on his side facing away from her. Their whispering apparently hadn’t disturbed him, which didn’t surprise her. The man slept like a rock.

“I’m not really used to the two someones thing either,” she whispered to Niko.

“Come here.” He grabbed her and pulled her on top of him. His erection bulged through his boxers. “Can you guess what I’d like to do right now?” he asked in a husky voice.

She glanced at Corin again. “What about him?”

“He’s asleep. If he wakes up, he can join in.” He ran his hands over her ass. “Are you sore from last night?”

She considered it. “A little.”

“Your ass isn’t used to a workout like that.” He pulled her down and pressed his mouth against hers. His tongue pushed its way between her lips, and his hands explored her body until, breathless, she broke the kiss. He grinned. “So I guess I won’t fuck your ass this morning. Just your pussy. Do you want that?”

She was still half asleep. Her body still ached from the night before. Despite that, Niko’s hands and voice made her pussy tingle, and she knew she wanted him, regardless of anything else. Regardless even of Corin sleeping on the other side of the bed.

Maybe he would wake up and join them. That would be a pleasant way to spend Christmas morning.

“Yes, I want you,” she whispered.

Niko’s mouth found hers again. He pushed her panties down slightly and slipped his hand inside them.

She moved against his hand and moaned softly. Her body responded eagerly to his touch.

He broke the kiss. “Take these off,” he ordered, snapping the waistband of her panties against her. “Not the nightie, though. Keep that on.”
