BLURB:
Nine months ago, Heather’s life took a dramatic change. She became a werewolf. Shortly thereafter, a lycan hunter named Cray murdered her sire, leaving her to struggle through her horrible existence alone. But if turning into a bloodthirsty, ravenous, beast of the night wasn’t bad enough, she'd also conceived a child on the evening of her attack. With the next lunar cycle about to begin, the hunter hot on her heels, and her unborn child at stake, she's desperate to stay alive. Hoping the hordes of partying females will mask her scent, she flees to the crowded shores of South Beach, right into the arms of a local college student named Mike, a man who could prove more than a one-night stand.

Born a lycan, bred a hunter, Cray McCorbin has learned to control his inner beast, as well as accept the responsibility of eliminating other wolves who can't. He's not proud of his job—killing isn't something he enjoys—and prefers to consider himself a protector of humanity, despite his own heritage. Nine months ago, however, fate intervened in his miserable life and fulfilled the old Lycan Lore, presenting him with a mate. Cassandra, Heather's best friend, is all Cray's ever dreamed of and more. But destiny can sometimes come with a cruel hand. Though he'd gladly give his life for her, his duties as hunter comes first. He can't allow any renegade werewolf to escape, not even Cassandra's best friend...

Boulevard Bellini

Has anyone bought a Magic Bullet Blender yet? I just got one, haven't tried it yet, but I found a recipe on their site that looked pretty tasty. Here's what it says...

A unique frozen version of the snazzy, upscale Bellini cocktail. A delicious blend of fruity flavor that's tasty without being sweet. A perfect cocktail for brunches and luncheons, or poolside, or breakfast, or anytime! (Breakfast?!!! ha ha)

Ingredients:
ice
frozen peaches
2 shots champagne
2 shots peach schnapps
1 shot lemon-lime soda
1 tsp. sugarPreparation

First ...Fill a Party Mug or Tall Cup halfway up with ice and add frozen peaches to fill the cup.

Then...Pour in all of the liquid ingredients.

And ... Blend until smooth.

I don't know about breakfast, but it sure sounds like a tantillizing afternoon drink! I could use one of these tonight!

Dark Tales Reviews

Look what Lyda at Bitten By Books had to say about Dark Tales 1: Vampyress...

What is a vampire supposed to do, when she’s stuck in a bar in the middle of a raging storm with no electricity? Especially when she is stuck with humans who have no clue how they are going to pass the time. Storytelling! Someone actually suggests they all share a story to make the time fly by and Vampyress Ivona Knight has been nominated to share the first tale.

So she decides to tell them the true story of how she fell into the darkness. And the silly humans, they cannot seem to tell whether she is telling the truth or simply just trying to scare them. All except one -the one human who shares a remarkable resemblance to her past and only love Dragomir. Lucian is his name, and he is one hundred percent certain Ivona is telling the truth. And even though he is scared to death, he finds himself unable to move, enthralled by her story, he has to hear her tell the rest. Then maybe he could share his own tale.

Vampyress is absolutely captivating. It is truly reminiscent of campfire stories with an audience simply eager to hear more. The story is simply evocative as if I was personally in the setting hearing Ivona tell her tale that I was actually sorry and disappointed when she finished. I ate up every word and personally am anxious to read its sequel.

Greenwood Manor Review...

Look what Megan at Bitten By Books had to say about Greenwood Manor...

Laura Flannery is a 35 year old woman who needs a vacation, yesterday. She is working at a dead end job, has an old bitty that lives next door and always wants to know her business. If that is not enough, when Laura gets a vacation her neighbor asks if she can feed her five cats. When a post card comes in the mail for a new bed and breakfast, Laura decides to go on a little vacation of her own.

Barnabas is the owner of Greenwood Manor but stays out of sight at first. His butler William and cook Rosie get her settled in. When Barnabas does meet her face to face, he tells her that he is her husband. By the way, he is also dead.

Her stay begins with a taxi driver that cannot wait to get away from her and the house. Strange things keep happening at the old manor such as hearing voices in her head and people floating instead of walking. Laura thinks that she has gone nuts because the alternative is too scary.

This book had me giggling and getting misty all at the same time. Shannon Leigh knows how to get the emotions out of her characters and bring them to life on paper. The love scenes are on the spicy side but done in a way that shows the special connection between Laura and Barnabas. Greenwood Manor is a book that I would recommend to all my friends.

Erotikos Review...

Look what Megan at Bitten By Books had to say about Erotikos...

This was a combination of three books in one with three friends who get together for a girls night in. It consists of getting drunk, playing board games and a possible movie. Renee, Candi and Mina are all completely different but are great friends who do not spend enough time together.

Mina brings over a new board game to play that she found. It says that it can bring you adventure in sex for either one or multiple players. The rules are that each woman picks a pewter man of her choice. They have a choice of a vampire, construction worker and a business man plus five others. After reading the directions, they roll the dice to start their own sexual fantasy.

Each woman had her story and a certain man of her choice so there was a variety. The men that were chosen were perfect for each woman and I have to say that I would have picked them all. Hey, I can dream can’t I? Shannon Leigh has been added to my automatic buy list. The sex scenes are very explicit in Erotikos.

Chasing Booty Review

Look What Amy at Bitten By Books had to say about Chasing Booty...
What a thrilling ride! Ms. Leigh brings us a different kind of intergalactic tale with steamy hot sex in this story. Gaelyn and Reese have been attracted to each other forever, yet both refuse to give in and pursue their lust and desire. They are equally stubborn, but when they connect, their chemistry goes way beyond explosive. Both are bounty hunters and they end up chasing after the same bounty. But when the bounty is the one doing the chasing, they both need to work together and overcome their past issues.
This is an enjoyable book with tons of sex scenes, in bedrooms, in caves, pretty much everywhere that they can. With lots of suspense and action, Chasing Booty will surely keep you at the edge of your seat. This is definitely a must read to those who love a short tale with lots of suspense and thrills.
Rating: 4 Tombstones!

Lycan Lore 2: Offspring--sneak peak

WARNING!!! Since this is book 2 in the Lycan Lore series, this excerpt contains spoilers for the first book, Lycan Lore. This is completely unedited. Please disregard and blatant grammar errors.

EXCERPT:

Heather stirred the skewered cherry around in her soda. Seemed the bartenders in South Beach thought it amusing to dress up their drinks, alcoholic or not. Since arriving some three days ago, she hadn’t gotten one beverage that didn’t sport an orange slice, pineapple wedge, or some other type of impaled fruit.

She’d debated taking the plastic sword and sticking it in the bartender’s eye when he’d set it before her, but decided against it. The last thing she wanted to do was make a scene. She’d come to Miami to blend in with the throngs of college kids currently on Spring Break; stabbing her server certainly wouldn’t promote conspicuity.

Heather eyeballed the attractive guy sitting on the barstool next to her. Her assessing gaze swept him from head to foot. With his athletic build and youthful skin, she guessed him to be in his early twenties.

He’d make a fine fuck-partner.

And afterward, a tasty snack.

“So where are you going to school?”

He glanced over at her, his sea green eyes sparkling with interest. His gaze dropped from her face to her breasts, lingering a long moment to ostensibly appreciate their ample size before sliding lower to focus on the large swell of her abdomen. Instant recognition of her pregnant state caused his assessment to falter.

“You shouldn’t drink when you’re pregnant, you know,” he said matter-of-factly.

Heather bristled at the haughtiness of his tone. She clenched her jaw, struggling to control her temper. Restraining her inner beast became more difficult with each passing night of the lunar cycle.

For three moons of the month—the full and the two preceding—she became a force to be reckoned with. Last night was the first. Tonight would make two. And tomorrow would be worse.

“It’s virgin,” she ground out through a fake smile. “I don’t drink.”

She lied, of course. She drank all the time, even more so since the manifestation of her current state. Nothing else dulled her pain.

Not that she didn’t care about the child in her womb, she did. She just doubted alcohol would cause it much harm. No, silver bullets were her baby’s only enemy. Well, silver bullets and Cray McCorbin.

Though he shared her ailment—if one considered lycanthropy to be some sort of disease—he still saw fit to hunt and kill his own kind. The man proved relentless. After he’d disposed of Graham, her baby’s father, he’d targeted her.

Regardless of how many obstacles she put in his way, he refused to stop hunting her. Oh she’d managed to slow him down, throw a few detours in his trail. But once he’d eliminated her progenies, he steadfastly resumed his search for her.

It’d been nearly nine months since she’d started running from Cray, nine long months. But despite how tired she’d grown of late, she needed a little more time. Her baby would come soon, perhaps at the conclusion of the current lunar cycle. She just hoped her surroundings masked her scent until then.

Although her hormones were working on overtime, Cray would have a hard time pinpointing her location. Right now, hundreds of horny college girls flocked South Beach’s Lummus Park and all its surrounding attractions. The very air teemed with the smell of sex, a veritable cesspool of pheromones.

She’d purposely booked lodging at the Clevelander Hotel, one of South Beach’s hot spots. In addition to being located right in the middle of the infamous Ocean Drive, it served as home to the Clevelander bar, a place synonymous with irreverent partying. She’d not only blend in with the carousing crowd around her, she’d be certain to sample some of its delicacies as well, in more ways than one.

Lycan Lore

This was also an Amber Heat best seller. Since I'm working on a sequel, Lycan Lore 2: Offspring, I thought I'd post a little about this one first.

BLURB:
Being the tag-along on a camping trip with Heather and Graham is not what Cassandra has in mind for her long weekend. When a tall, dark stranger with staggering green eyes shows up to lend a hand with her tent assembly from Hell, however, she has to rethink her predicament. Despite the mixture of excitement and apprehension he incites with his soul-startling stare, the possibility that she’s just found her brawny Tarzan in the depths of Redwood National Park suddenly doesn’t seem so absurd.

Cray feels an equally potent draw to the fiery redhead with the soft hazel eyes, attractive features, and tempting shape. Despite his resolve, she provokes a primordial calling he’s long sought to contain. He wants this female, he can’t deny, but he knows giving in to such unabashed urges can lead to disaster, and he refuses to sentence this woman to his own horrid fate.

But just as powerful as Cray’s attraction is his unexpected surge of protectiveness. There’s something about Cassandra’s male friend that needles his suspicion. Graham invokes Cray’s predatory sense of dominance, and that doesn’t bode well. If his instincts are correct, Cray knows Graham is more than he appears and Cassandra’s life is in danger...

EXCERPT:

She wasn’t too sure how far back Heather might be, but surely she couldn’t have been more than a hundred yards or so. The scream had sounded close. “Where are you?” she repeated, then stopped, fearing her pounding feet might mask a response.

A whimpering to her left caught her ear. “Heather?” Her voice shook as she recognized a growing sense of fear.

Trying to quell her panic at the realization of her own peril, she took a deep breath and stepped off the trail into the brush. Carefully spreading branches apart with the end of her knife to afford her deeper passage, she disappeared into the undergrowth. A tearing sound caused her to pause.

What the heck was that? It almost sounded like ripping fabric.

Or…flesh, she concluded, feeling a chill grip her innards as alarm hit her full force.

Instinct suggested her life was in danger. She couldn’t help Heather if she were dead herself. Perhaps finding some help was a better course of action.

She started to retrace her steps. Another spine-straightening suggestion of ripping followed by a moan of pain broke the dark stillness around her. A moist gurgle pursued its wake.

Cassandra froze. Heather would be dead before she returned. What if it wasn’t a mountain lion. What if it was a werewolf? She couldn’t just leave her.

“Please…” Heather’s voice murmured through the stillness.

Oh, for God’s sake, you’ve been listening to Graham’s ridiculous chatter for too long.

Cassandra started forward once again, disregarding the noise she made as she picked her way through the thick brush. Cray had said to yell and be aggressive. If it were a cougar, perhaps the clatter would scare it away.

Besides, there’s no such thing as—

Catching her foot on an exposed tree root, she tumbled forward, bursting through the other side of the bush in a clamorous rustle of leaves and snapping branches to land painfully on her hands and knees on the outskirts of a small clearing. Stunned by the fall, she leaned back on her haunches and wiped the remnants of dirt and twigs from her palms.

Her flashlight rolled away, coming to rest several feet beyond her reach. Despite a hard knock on the ground, it remained lit, though its beam was dull. And her knife had disappeared somewhere within a mound of leaves on her left.

When she finally glanced around her dim surroundings, she realized that she’d just happened onto the scene of something akin to a horror film. Cassandra opened her mouth to scream, but terror choked the sound from her throat. All her psychological profiling of lycanthropes fizzled away like water subjected to flame, for the shadowed creature before her—a strange mix of man and dog—couldn’t be anything human.

Werewolves…

Chasing Booty

When cops can’t catch the most-wanted criminals, they hire Gaelyn. She comes from a long line of bounty hunters, including her father, uncle, and grandfather. Extensive training in weaponry, hand-to-hand combat, and adverse conditions have seasoned her into a formidable opponent against any contracted hit, whether male, female, alien, or human. She has little fear of the unknown and thrives on adventure.

Only one other hunter matches her status—Reese, a Trøndite from the small planet of Sør-Trøndalag in the Capricornus Sector. And the man has a knack for stealing her contracts. Both cunning and gorgeous, the mix doesn’t seem quite fair. But attractiveness holds little power over money. Reese had beaten Gaelyn out of a half-year’s pay a scarce three months ago, and she will be damned if he outwits her again.

Thinking she’s duped Reese back onto Jupiter, Gaelyn isn’t too happy when she runs into him on Quaoar at the Blue Moon, an authentic hole-in-the-wall bar tucked at the end of a narrow alley in what would be considered the rough part of town; just the place to find her contracted hit. But Reese not only has the information she needs to find her mark, he also has a business proposal that’s too tempting to pass up. And a partnership with Reese just might prove rewarding in a way Gaelyn never expects...

Excerpt:

“State your business,” the squeed demanded.

Gaelyn lifted her nose a bit, not in defiance, but in an effort to breath. The creature stank like raw sewage. That alone would make anyone want to jump a ship and hightail it out of there.

“I already told you my business. I’m chasing a contracted hit and I have reason to believe he’s here.”

“Bounty hunters,” the squeed sneered. “You’re just as arrogant as the other one.”

Gaelyn felt her self-confidence wane. “Other one?” She scanned the docking station, searching for the only “other one” she expected to see.

Unless Reese had acquired a new ship, nothing in there resembled his. In fact, the other rigs were far too small to equip a bounty. More likely than not, the personal crafts belonged to some of the elite inhabitants of Quaoar.

“How long are you planning on staying?” the squeed demanded.

Gaelyn shrugged. “As long as it takes to either catch him or determine he’s not here. A few days, perhaps.”

He grunted, then began filling out information on his clipboard.

Gaelyn regarded his writing instrument. Comprised of flawless stainless steel, the long slender stylus reminded her of something she’d use as a weapon instead of a pencil. Small bolts of blue electricity sparked from the tip as he wrote.

I could have used that on my last hit.

She’d gone after a wereling—half werewolf, half earthling—a brutal beast that easily passed for human in public, but turned into a flesh-starved beast with razor sharp fangs and deadly claws in the blink of an eye. Unlike their forefathers, these creatures didn’t need a full moon to call on their hidden form. They shifted at will.

After several moments, the squeed shoved the clipboard in her direction. “Sign by the X.”

Gaelyn scanned the documentation he’d made. There didn’t seem to be anything out of the ordinary. Wanting to get on with business, she took the offered stylus and signed her name where indicated.

Handing the board back to him, she said, “I expect my ship will be safe during my stay.”

The squeed looked offended. His large globular eyes nearly bugged out of his gray gelatinous face and his black pupils constricted so tight, they became horizontal slits splitting his white orbs into two half moons. He pursed his beak-like mouth and puffed out his jowls.

“Of course,” he declared with a click of his tongue. “I oversee all security on Quaoar myself.”

Gaelyn nodded. “I’ll need lodging for a few nights. Any suggestions?”

“Take Elevator A up to Sector 5.” He pointed to a group of elevators along the far left wall, beside the glass enclosed control center. “That’s the entertainment section of the biosphere. I’m sure you’ll find what you need there.”

His tentacles twitched as though he found the mere mention of fun abhorrent.

That time again...

Well another month has gone by and it's my turn to blog again at the Amber Heat Blog. I can't believe how quickly this year is flying by. These last two weeks have been pretty trying. My littlest son has been visiting with his father and I'm not used to him being gone so long. Yes, I'm the clingy mother, can't help it, he's my baby. But he'll be back in a couple of days and I'm sure I'll be ready to pull my hair out by the end of the weekend! His brother's have asked nearly every day when he comes back. We're all anxious to see him.

I've had quite a lot happen over the last month. Two book releases: Dark Tales 1: Vampyress from Wild Child Publishing, and Chasing Booty from Amber Quill Press. I'm pleased to announce that when the monthly sales reports came back from Amber Quill, I found out that Chasing Booty was the top seller in the Amber Heat category.

But I can't gloat long. I also discovered that I'd been moved from an "alternate" in an upcoming Amber Pax to one of authors scheduled to have an included story! The deadline for manuscript completion was April. I hadn't even started!!! After the shock and stark terror (okay, that's a little much, how about apprehension) left, I knew I had to get down to business. I'm about 6000 words in to it and rolling right along. Thank goodness the release date isn't until August!

In addition to my working, raising kids, and my writing regimen, my fiance and I have taken on the endeavor of finishing my 1475 sq foot basement. We started with four concrete walls and nothing more, but have really come quite a ways. Our basic plan is to put a bedroom and bathroom along the far wall, closet in the furnace and water heater (which by some crazy reason the builder saw fit to place right in the friggin middle of the basement), put a bar/game area in the opposite corner from the bathroom, make a storage area under the steps, then finish the outer walls the rest of the way around. While it will likely take several months to complete, I can happily say we've finished studding the bedroom and bathroom. The next house will have a finished basement! ha ha.

Dark Tales 1: Vampyress--excerpt

“I’d like to hear from the lady in red, if there’s no objection.”

The smooth baritone sung through Ivona’s veins like a bow across a welltuned
cello. A strange shudder worked its way up her legs and centered at the
juncture of her thighs, followed by a flash of moisture, a rush of heat. She glanced
back at the bar, taking in his attractive physique from the top of his dark head to
the rounded toes of his black Harley boots.

He’s straightforward. She liked that. No beating around the bush.

Tall, muscular, well proportioned, the man looked like an athlete. A black Tshirt
clung to his broad shoulders, the taut garment stretching to the point of full.
His worn jeans hung low on his trim waist and long legs, molding along his
muscled thighs and outlining the form at his groin with delicious clarity.

Ivona’s gaze lingered there a while. Bold in her appraisal of his endowment,
she had little concern for her bawdy behavior. Nice.

She moved her inspection upward, finding his rugged features equally
appealing—face beardless and sharp, profile strong and rigid. He comes from
good stock.

His overall form portrayed a lot of history within his genes, and perhaps, quite
a bit within his jeans as well. She doubted he suffered from a lack of bed partners.
I should like to explore that avenue later.

Amused by her careful scrutiny, he winked. Shifting to lean against the bar, he
used one elbow to support his pleasing form. The movement drew her gaze to his
muscled chest and flat abs. A leather coat would complete this bad boy
appearance. She wondered if a motorcycle waited out back.

Ivona shrugged, feigning indifference. “Fine with me.” She swiveled in her
seat, turning away lest he think himself too tempting to pass by.

When no one else disputed his request, Ivona resolved herself to going first
and waited for everyone to find a seat. It didn’t surprise her when Mr. Bad Boy
chose the chair across from her. Crossing her arms over her chest, she did her
best to try and ignore him.

Several of the patrons shifted from one spot to another, struggling to find an
acceptable seat. Others continued to talk to their partners, their manner rude and
inconsiderate to the ones waiting to begin. Ivona’s patience grew thin.

Struggling to contain her annoyance, she cleared her throat, announcing her
desire to start their silly game. As if on command, the room grew quiet. All eyes
focused on her.

Dipping her head, “My name is Ivona Valeriu Knight,” she began. “I was born
in Targoviste, Romania in the year fourteen hundred and forty six.”

Chasing Booty--excerpt (R)

Reese approached the chaise, his gait slow and confident. “Shall we discuss…payment options?”

“Payment?” Gaelyn snapped incredulously, sitting straight up. “I thought we agreed on—”

“For my room and board,” he cut in. “How shall I…compensate you for your generosity?”

Gaelyn melted back against the chaise. “Well, I don’t know,” she replied with a nonchalant shrug. “What exactly did you have in mind?”

Reese stopped at the edge of the settee, his faded blue jean clad shin brushing the velvet material. “I thought maybe we’d take it out in trade.”

She let out a snorty laugh. “What could you possibly have that I’d want?”

He dropped to one knee on the couch, right between her spread thighs. His other foot remained on the floor, balancing his weight. Before she registered his intent, he leaned forward, placing his hands on the divan, one on either side of her head, and successfully pinned her beneath his bulky frame.

“How about ten inches of solid cock?” The offer rolled off his tongue with a thrilling growl.

Unprepared for such a bold proposition, Gaelyn stammered in response. She wasn’t sure what bothered her more, his audacity at assuming she’d be so easy, or the fact that he was right.

Quickly regaining her wits, she opened her mouth to tell him off, but before she uttered a word, his lips covered hers with a searing kiss. A gust of warmth filled her throat and lungs as his unusually hot breath invaded her mouth. Fire coursed through her veins as desire heated her blood to full boil. Feeling as though he robbed her breath, she turned her head and gasped, breaking their kiss.

Sweet Jesus! The man knew how to use his mouth! She wondered at his other skills.

“What makes you think I want—”

“Come on, Gael, you’ve been starin’ at my groin since we left the bar. Don’t play coy, it doesn’t become you.”

Gaelyn glared daggers at him. Arrogant, conceited, self-absorbed…

There weren’t enough vile names for him. Never mind his accurate assessment of things, she did want him. Bad. So bad, in fact, she practically tasted it.

He owes me. For being so nice to him even after all the times he’s cheated me out of my booty.

Her channel spasmed in agreement.

“What are you afraid of?” he cajoled, running a fingertip along her jawline.

Gaelyn molded her hand against the hardened form at his crotch. “Nothin’,” she growled. “I’m not afraid of nothin’.”

His black eyes bore into hers as he licked his bottom lip once again. “Then we have an agreement?”

The feel of his shrouded cock in her hand and his finger against her flesh had all but obliterated her will to argue. Why deny herself simple pleasures? Especially when she had such a luscious specimen of maleness offering to fulfill her every need.

With a quick nod, she agreed to his terms—sex for a place to lay his head. Seemed a fair trade. However, at that moment, she wanted his head between her thighs.

Chasing Booty--excerpt

An empty alley greeted her. She scanned the pathway from front to back, top to bottom, slowly making her way behind the bar. It appeared as though he’d vanished.

He’s here…

Her eyes strained to see an outline, a shape, anything.

I know he’s here!

But without her de-cloaking goggles, she’d never see him, even if he stood against the wall right in front of her.

That slimy son of a…

She spotted what looked to be an article of clothing tucked behind a pile of empty crates near the back door. Using the toe of her boot, she pulled the item from its hiding spot. Instantly recognizing the khaki pants, she knew she’d been duped.

“Dammit!”

Re-holstering her weapon, she retraced her steps and went back inside the bar. Ignoring the bewildered patrons who’d all stopped to watch her entrance, she went straight for the counter.

“Where are the ice caves?” she demanded, not waiting for the bartender to finish pouring his customer’s drink. “What’s the quickest way there?”

The bartender nodded toward a shrouded figure seated at the other end of the counter.
Gaelyn gritted her teeth. She didn’t have time for games. Glancing at the cloaked being through narrowed eyes, she quickly evaluated any potential level of threat.

Male. Tall. Well-built. Who is this guy? Where’d he come from?

She hadn’t noticed him before.

With an air of “don’t-fuck-with-me” in her step, she made her way toward him. “The bartender seems to think you can be of some assistance,” she declared, stopping a mere six inches to the left of the man’s seated frame.

He ignored her, choosing instead to take a long swig from his mug.

Removing her laser from its holster on her left thigh, she plopped it onto the counter top. Her hand rested lightly on its black metallic shape, her finger hugging the trigger. “Well?”

“I can take you there, for a price,” he replied, his deep voice a thunderous rumble within his muscular chest.

Annoyed, she lifted her chin. “Name it,” she practically growled.

The man chuckled. “It’ll be steep,” he warned. “Perhaps more than you’re willing to pay.”

Gaelyn’s patience wore thin. They wasted precious time. Is this guy gonna get down to business or what?

Struggling to see his face beneath the shadowed hood, she leaned a little closer. “Look, buddy. I don’t have time for games. Either name your price or I’ll take my business elsewhere.”

He glanced at her, his onyx, deep-set eyes two bottomless black pits within his handsome angular face. “I want half the booty. For starters.”

Gaelyn’s breath caught in her throat. Reese.

This wasn’t happening.

He pulled back his hood, letting the heavy material fall onto his broad shoulders in a neatly folded pleat. “Hello, Gael. It’s been a long time.”

Her right fist doubled at her waist. With forced control, she resisted the urge to knock that superior smirk right off his handsome face. “Reese,” she said through clenched teeth. “I suppose you’re after the same hit.”

He shrugged. “It’s a sizeable payoff.”

“He’s my contract.” Warning laced her tone.

Reese turned fully toward her, his massive frame almost comical atop the strained bar stool.
“Well now, seems we have a difference of opinion on that matter.”

BLURB:

Chasing Booty-sneak peak

This is due out May 11th from Amber Quill. I haven't gotten a cover yet. It's a science-fiction erotica. I had a blast with with one.

EXCERPT:

“I’m looking for a Saurian, goes by the name of Gagmar. He’s a little over seven feet tall with a sleek build and reptilian skin.”

She slid a three-by-five pictograph engraved with Gagmar’s likeness toward him.
The man picked up the picture. “A Chamaeleon?”

Gaelyn nodded. “He can change the color of his skin, as well as the texture.”

“It’s a good thing they wear clothes,” the bartender said, his words slurred by the deformity of his lips. “Otherwise you’d never see ’em. Yeah, he was here. ’Bout a day or so ago. Said he needed to ditch some bounty bitch.”

He glanced at her, a smirk tugging at the corner of his crooked mouth.

Gaelyn snorted. “Did he say how long he’d be staying?”

The bartender shook his head. “Nope. But I expect he’s still around. You might check the ice tunnels in Sector 2. Them lizard folk don’t feel cold like the rest of us. Seems a good place to start.”

She thanked him for the information, downed her drink in one gulp, and handed him the empty shot glass. “Hey,” she said, just as he turned to leave, “anyone else asked about him?”

The bartender pondered her a moment, contemplating his response. He nodded and leaned toward her. “Big guy. Long black hair. Red skin. Looked like the devil ’imself.”

His voice scarcely reached a whisper. The mingled aromas of bourbon and cigarettes danced on his breath, combined with the putrid odor of infected flesh. Gaelyn tried not to gag.

Before asking him anything else, the door to the bar creaked open. The hairs on Gaelyn’s neck stood at attention. Straining to see around the bartender’s impeding frame, she caught a glimpse of the scale-skinned figure standing in the threshold.
Gagmar.

Their glares locked across the smoke-filled room, her golden honey eyes clashing with his forest green. The texture and color of his skin instantly changed to match the scarred wood grain of the front door. Only his khaki pants and brown leather coat prevented him from blending right in, becoming near invisible to the naked eye.

“I’ll have to settle my bill later.” Gaelyn jumped to her feet and practically knocked the bartender aside as she moved to get around him.

While she doubted he’d send the cops after her for one unpaid shot of whiskey, she didn’t make a habit of dodging bar tabs. She always kept her word. Once she’d either captured or secured her hit, she’d return and pay up.

“Sure,” he replied, trying to get out of her way.

By the time she sidestepped the stunned bartender, Gagmar had turned tail and ran. The front door stood ajar from his hasty retreat.

“Dammit!” Whipping a stun gun from her hip holster, Gaelyn raced out the door after him.

“Dammit!” Re-holstering her weapon, she retraced her steps and went back inside the bar. Ignoring the bewildered patrons who’d all stopped to watch her entrance, she went straight for the counter.

“Where are the ice caves?” she demanded, not waiting for the bartender to finish pouring his customer’s drink. “What’s the quickest way there?”

The bartender nodded toward a shrouded figure seated at the other end.
Gaelyn grit her teeth. She didn’t have time for games. Glancing at the cloaked being through narrowed eyes, she quickly evaluated any potential level of threat.

Male. Tall. Well-built. Who is this guy? Where’d he come from?

She hadn’t noticed him before.

With an air of don’t-fuck-with-me in her step, she made her way toward him.

Let's make some whoopie!

Here's an interesting recipe for Whoopie Pies.

1 box of chocolate cake mix
3 eggs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/4 cup cocoa powder
1 1/4 cups vanilla frosting
1 1/4 cups whipped topping, thawed

1) Heat oven to 350 degrees. Coat 4 baking sheets with nonstick cooking spray and set aside.
2) In a large bowl, combine cake mix, eggs, oil, and cocoa powder. Beat on low for 30 seconds or until combined. Beat on medium speek for 2 more minutes; batter will be very thick. Drop batter by level tablespoons onto prepared baking sheets, 2 inches apart, for a total of 40 cookies. Bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes, rotating baking sheets halfway through. Use a metal spatula to quickly transfer cookies to racks and allow to cool.
3) Meanwhile, in a small bowl, stir together vanilla frosting adn whipped topping. Spread a heaping tablespoon of frosting mixture onto flat side of one cooled cookie, then place the flat side of the second cookie on top. Repeat.

Viola! We have desert to go with our chicken.

Sliced Mango Chicken

I was reading through a Family Circle magazine a few minutes ago and came across this recipe. I love mangos so it looked pretty good to me.

1 tbsp vegetable oil
4 boneless, skinless checken breasts cut crosswise into 1/2-inch slices
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp black pepper
1 bottle (10 oz) mango chutney
1 tsp prepared mustard
1 tbsp cornstarch
1/2 cup mango-orange juice
1 package (8 oz) frozen greenbeans and almonds, thawed
1 fresh ripe mango, peeled, pit removed, and thinly sliced

1) Heat oil in large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Season chicken wiht salt and pepper.
2) Add chicken to skillet and cook for about 6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned and no longer pink. Remove chicken to a plate, cover loosely and keep warm.
3) Add cutney and mustard to skillet. Stir cornstarch into mango-orange juice until disolved; add to skillet. Stir to combine. Simmer on medium-low for 2 minutes, stirring occasionally.
4) Place chicken and string beans into skillet, reserving the toasted almonds. Cook 2 minutes until heated through.
5.) To serve, sprinkle nuts on top and garnish with sliced mango.

Serving suggestion: brown rice.

Now lets see if I can find a desert...

Chinatown Buffet--blurb and excerpt

Chinatown Buffet

Available at Amber Quill Press

They say the road to success is a lonely one. Newly named corporate executive of the Chinese American Development Corporation, Ms. Mei Ling Zhao, can attest to this. Hated by her subordinates, her acquired status has truly left her friendless and in need of some male attention. After a long week of dealing with spiteful employees, threatening letters, and one headache after another, she treats herself to a much-needed drink and an order of fast-food—Chinese takeout, via "special delivery."

While Mei Ling expects her meal to arrive smoking hot and in a timely manner, she doesn’t anticipate her delivery boy to be tall, tanned Texan with a black Stetson, levis that cling to all the right places, and seafoam eyes that remind her of ocean water pooling on the shore. And yet, when she opens her door, that’s exactly what she finds standing on her stoop.

Seems the Chinatown Buffet is in the business of delivering more than just a tasty meal, and Mei Ling is about to find out what "special delivery" really means...

Genres: Contemporary / Interracial / Multicultural
Heat Level: 2
Length: Extended Amber Kiss (15k words)

EXCERPT:
…His barging into her home uninvited had surprised her. But when his T-shirt followed his hat onto the ottoman, Mei Ling nearly choked on her shock. “I’m afraid there’s been some sort of mistake here,” she gasped, trying not to stare at his nicely formed pectorals.

She certainly had no intention of appreciating the golden mass of curly brown wisps feathered across his chest and washboard abs. Or how a thickened swatch ran downward from his navel to disappear into the waistband of his jeans. And she absolutely refused to acknowledge the interest peaking within herself—the increased heart rate, the needful throb deep within her belly, the dampness in her panties.

As though ignoring her statement, he continued to undress. His boots followed along behind his shirt. Then his socks. He’d was just unzipping his pants when Mei Ling realized if she didn’t intervene, she’d soon have a naked man standing in the middle of her living room.

“Wait! Please. I really don’t understand what’s going on here.”

Quickly crossing the room, she darted for the ottoman and his growing pile of clothing. Then she snatched up his shirt and thrust it toward him. “Here, put this back on. You can’t just barge in here and start taking your clothes off. I don’t know if this is some kind of a joke, but I only ordered…I don’t even know who you are for Pete’s sake!”

He stared at her, long and hard, seemingly trying to figure out if she were playing a game or genuinely confused. “Ya really didn’t know what special delivery meant when ya ordered it, did ya.” It wasn’t a question, but rather a declaration.

“Apparently not.”

***

EXCERPT:

Cray longed to oblige her wish, to fill her insides with his hard rod and stroke them both to oblivion. But his sense of responsibility reined in his rampant hormones. He couldn’t make love to her as he’d like, but there was a way they could both leave satisfied.

Guiding her hand to his crotch, he encouraged her to touch his hardened shaft through his briefs. To his delight, she eagerly obliged. Shifting to her hands and knees, she pushed against his chest, coaxing him onto the blanket.

Stretching out on his back, Cray tucked his hands behind his head and let her take control. There was no hesitation or uncertainty in the way she eased his briefs over his hips, taking care to release his erection before pulling them down his thighs. Slipping them off his feet, she tossed them aside.

Starting at his ankles, she rubbed her hands up his legs, spreading her fingers as wide as she could. Cray closed his eyes, loving the feel of her palms on his skin. Her touch was like fire against his flesh, setting him ablaze with longing.

She stopped briefly to knead his calves, then continued upward. By the time she reached his thighs, Cray’s breaths had become pants. Fearing he might grab her shoulders, toss her onto the blanket, and drive his length into her hot little pussy, he locked his fingers behind his head.

Her fingertips trailed his groin, just grazing his balls. They tightened, pulling up against his shaft. Cray groaned, wondering if this was such a good idea.
When her lips touched his hip, it was all he could do to stay still. “Cassandra…” he breathed with warning, seriously debating his sanity.

She ignored him, grasping the skin between her teeth in a playful nibble. He gasped, his eyes flying open when his stomach muscles clenched in response to her mischievous bite. He never knew he was ticklish there.

She cast him an impish grin before moving on to her next target. As her small hand wrapped around the base of his shaft, Cray held his breath. He watched, his eyes focused on her mouth as she dipped forward.

As though to amplify his torment, she stared back up at him, her hazel eyes unblinking even as her lips closed around the head of his penis. A shudder wracked his frame as the warmth of her mouth enveloped him. Unable to help himself, he tangled his fingers in her hair, part of him wanting to stop her and the other goading her to finish what she’d started.

But Cassandra obviously had no intention of stopping. Gripping him firmly within her palm, she balanced herself with the other hand on the ground and rose up on her knees. Hovering above his groin, she began a slow and methodical process of torment.

Goodmorning!

It's hump day! Half way there! Unless like me, you're off this Friday. In which case this is like my Thursday, only on Wednesday. Except I usually end up doing so much running on my Friday's off, that it'd be better to just go to work because by Saturday, I'm pretty much pooped!

Before I launch in to a bunch of posts about moi and my latest writing endeavors, I thought I'd do another poll. I'm going to come up with some different options on what you think is the most important quality in a hero. Granted most of us would like a combination of things, but if you had to choose just one, what would it be?

The poll is located on the right. Be sure to cast your vote.

My Newsletter

It's been quite a while since I've put out a newsletter, but I'm happy to say that I just finished one for April (yes, I realize it's half over!). I try to include things like my latest releases, reviews, excerpts, as well as fun stuff like a joke of the day, and Rune readings. I encourage readers to email me, make comments on my writing, requests, etc.

I also give members special sneak-peaks at what I'm working on, as well as special contests for items such as coffee-mugs, handmade jewelry, autographed book covers, etc. I generally write paranormal romance/erotica, but I've dabbled in contemporary and have recently ventured into the science-fiction realm.

I won't bog down your inbox with numerous emails; I generally keep it to 1 or 2 a month unless something spectacular happens that I just can't wait to share. If your a lover of vampires, werewolves, ghosts, cowboys, guardians, and just about any other far-fetched character that I can come up with, then I invite you to join my newsletter and keep abreast of Shannon Leigh's paranormal world.

Erotikos--ADULT excerpt

WARNING! This excerpt contains strong sexual language and content!

Wrapping his hands around her thighs, he lifted his head off the ground and sunk his tongue into her spread pussy. Candi gasped as he delved deep inside her, seemingly reaching all the way to her navel. She could hardly hold herself erect, let alone work on him while he was doing that.

“God! You have a marvelous tongue,” she moaned, rolling her pelvis forward to afford him a better reach.

“An ye ’ave a tasty fud, lass, made for eatin’.”

Candi shuddered at his profession. She’d never had a man tell her that her pussy tasted good. The eroticism of his words shook her to the core.

Trying to concentrate on the large cock gripped within her hand, she dipped her head forward, kissing the head. Then she pushed the silky smooth helmet through her lips, loving the downy feel of it against her tongue. Being careful not to scrape him with her teeth, she began to suck, carefully drawing him in and out.

Surius thrust his hips upward, forcing himself even further into her mouth. But his self-interest didn’t stunt his ministrations on her. On the contrary, the harder she worked him, the more intent he seemed upon driving her over the edge of all sanity.

Withdrawing his tongue from her cunt, he pressed it flat against her clit and licked up and down. A bolt of pleasure shot through Candi’s pelvis and her hips bucked forward of their own accord. She spread her legs a little more, pressing herself against his face.

With a delighted growl, Surius plunged two fingers into her quivering channel. His tongue worked the tiny head of her tingling bead in a quick up and down flick, while his digits fucked her pussy, pushing in and out until she thought she would scream with delight. Candi’s legs began to tremble.

“Help me, please,” he begged, his striking green eyes boring into hers before he collapsed to his knees.

Pulling her dress up to her shins, Mina squatted beside him. She grabbed him beneath the arm, helped him back to his feet, then led him into the cottage. After coaxing him onto the bed, she went to secure the door.

“How far behind are they?” she asked, sliding the iron lock into place.

Athan glanced at her, his expression quizzical. “How did you…”

His eyes narrowed a bit, then he grinned. “You know the game.”

He studied her a moment longer. “I don’t remember you. Have you played before?”

Mina shook her head. “No. But I’m not wigged out by paranormal stuff. You don’t frighten me.”

“Really?” he said with a cocked brow. “What makes you think you’re safe? I could just kill you and be done with it, drain you dry.”

Mina snorted. “According to the rules, all players must complete their tasks before they can return. If I don’t go back, no one else will ever play and you’ll be stuck here in this world with no one to fuck. How’s that for rationalization?” she declared, crossing her arms over her chest in bold defiance.

His gaze dropped to her breasts, which were propped upon her crossed arms like a couple of ripe melons. “Hmm…” he purred, taking no care to hide his interest. “Guess you got me. But first we must dispose of my hunter.”

A three way tie

Well, so far there's a 3-way tie on the paranormal character poll. Vampires, Lycans, and Ghosts are running neck to neck. I'm curious to see how the results fare over the next 6 days of voting.

Erotikos--Meet Surius

It seemed only seconds after her thoughts went blank that she heard a man’s voice yelling in her head. At first she thought it was God, welcoming her through the gates. Then she realized the likelihood of her heathen-ass going to hell and knew it had to be someone else.

“Hey there, lass. Dinnae go oot on me yet. Ye were nae supposed to droon.”

His thick Scottish accent seeped into her waterlogged brain, sufficiently drawing her back from the brink of extinction. A mouth closed over hers and air filled her lungs. Then a heavy palm pressed on her chest.

An upheaval of water gurgled in her throat. Candi gasped and coughed in an effort to breathe. Inhaling a mouthful of expelled liquid, she began to choke.

“Careful noo, lassie. Cough it oot.”

He rolled her onto her side and patted her on the back as she continued to cough. Expelling the last of the water from her lungs, Candi finally took a deep breath. She had an overwhelming urge to vomit.

The acrid sensation of stale alcohol burned her throat as she emptied her stomach onto the soft grass. When she’d finished, she rolled onto her back, exhausted. It took a lot of energy to die.

Pain wracked her body. Her entire chest cavity felt bruised and beaten, as though she’d been pummeled. Her arms and legs trembled from exertion.

“There noo, ye gave me quite a scare. Most of ye swim to shore. When ye dinnae come, I got concerned. Thought maybe ye’d been eaten.”

Candi cracked one lid in an effort to see her savior. A shadowed visage hovered above her. The blazing sun overhead made it impossible to see his face.

“Thank you,” she murmured, her numb lips garbling the words. “For saving my life. Are you…Surius?”

“Aye. That’s what human folk call me. I ’ave many names.”

Erotikos--Meet Eyanosa

Available now from Amber Quill Press

Renee moved her character forward two spaces. “‘Warriors and Rituals, a proud race are the Sioux. Select your card, the number is two.’”

She glanced first at Candi, then Mina. “You sure about this?”

“It’s a game, Renee. What could happen?” Mina crossed her arms over her chest with an annoyed huff.

“This is me, drinking,” Candi announced, reaching for the José.

Renee snatched the bottle first. “Okay, I give. No more drinking.”

She set the José on the floor, well out of everyone’s reach, then regarded her card. It still lay facedown on the board, waiting for her to pick it up. With a shaking hand, she placed the tip of her index finger on the card’s backside and slowly slid it toward her.

“Here goes.”

The room became uncomfortably quiet as Renee grasped the card by its edge and turned it over. Mina and Candi leaned forward, curiosity gleaming in their unwavering stares. Feeling as though she sealed some inexplicable fate, Renee read her adventure aloud.

“‘Eyanosa, a great Lakota Sioux warrior in South Dakota, has taken part in The Sun Dance ritual in hopes that an emissary of the Wakan Tanka will return to bring peace and prosperity to his people. Your appearance will comfort his heart, but he craves the warmth of your flesh to soothe his soul.’”

When she’d finished, Renee regarded her friends with nauseating unease. Her insides roiled with apprehension. Was that it?

Instinctively she sensed something was about to happen, but she had no clue as to what that might be. They were three half-drunk women playing a stupid board game that Mina had seduced out the hands of an old gypsy woman’s adolescent grandson. What could happen?

Erotikos Excerpt--PG

Mina opened the box and removed its contents: a game board, eight playing pieces, a deck of rectangular cards, and two die. After unfolding the board, she spread it out flat across the coffee table. Surprisingly, it comprised most of the table’s span, stretching to near each corner.

“Wow,” Renee exclaimed, stunned by the detailed artwork depicted transversely along the board’s sides.

Each displayed two settings of similar content or theme. The side nearest her seemed to follow a western premise. Half was illustrated with the inside of a teepee, while the other displayed what looked to be a brothel room.

Having little interest in cowboys, Renee disregarded the brawny gunslinger posed on the antique bed and considered the Indian setting instead. Having just recently studied several tribes in her anthropology class, she instantly recognized the markings and décor as being Sioux, a fierce clan with skilled warriors and enchanting traditions. Her gaze was drawn to the center.

She felt an instant surge of lust for the male character sprawled on his back atop a pile of animal furs. With his hands tucked behind his head, hips slightly cocked, and right knee bent, he appeared to be completely at ease. Renee traced her fingers along the palpable lean muscle in his arms and legs, wishing it were more than just cleverly molded metal she touched.

His glossy black hair glistened with a near blue sheen in the flickering glow of a small fire strategically placed in his shelter’s center. For the briefest of moments, she could have sworn she felt heat lick her fingertips.

Blogging Today

Goodmorning! Hope everyone is having a better day than I am. We’ve got rain, rain, and more rain. My kids are on a 2-hour delay from school. Two hours!!! I’ve never heard of such! When I was in school, we were lucky to get out for snow. It had to be something like a foot deep. Now, just the mention of snow, and the kids are let out of school. Ah well, I can’t complain. My oldest two are able to get themselves off to the bus without me. My third one is at the sitter’s, so she’ll get him there on time. And the fourth little guy isn’t in school yet. Wish I could have slept and extra 2 hours! Oh to be a kid again.

First off this morning I wanted to get the contest business out of the way. It’s fairly easy. All you have to do is post a comment on any of my excerpts/book covers. What I’m giving away is a hand made necklace and bracelet set with ivory, gold, and cranberry beads. It’s really pretty, if I do say so myself. ; )

I’ll be posting off and on all day so there’ll be plenty of time to enter. I’ll also hold off until tomorrow morning to select the winner so there’s no rush. Sit back, relax, grab a cup of coffee, tea, or whatever get’s your insides all warm and fuzzy and let me introduce you to Eyanosa, Surius, and Athan.
